Porque soy de Ghana, África Occidental, es irónico
que cuando llegue nostálgico en Granada, es de mi “casa” en los Estados Unidos.
Cuando dejo de tomar las cosas desde allí, por lo general es porque estoy
rodeado de repente adelgaza, que son communes a la cultura occidental. Para mí,
lo más
nostálgico
aquí
es el ‘Burger King’ que camino por todos los días en mi camino a clase. Es más
irónico
porque no soy un cliente habitual de Burger King en los Estados Unidos. Sólo
he estado allí dos veces en toda mi vida! Pero, cada vez que me encuentro en
Reyes Católicos,
echo de menos “mi casa”.

Being from Ghana, West Africa, I find it very ironic that
when I am struck with feelings of nostalgia, they are for my “home” in the
United States. Most of the time, when I catch myself missing things I don’t
have, it is because I am suddenly surrounded by things which are common to
western culture. For me, the most nostalgic thing here is the Burger King I
walk by every single day on my way to classes. It is even more ironic because I
am not a frequent customer at Burger King in the United States of America. I
have honestly just been there twice in my entire life and yet every time I pass
the one on Reyes Catolicos, I find myself missing “home”.
