La Alhambra

Este fin de semana pasado, mis amigos de un otro parte de España (Extremadura), venían a visitarme en Granada. Ellos nunca habían visto la Alhambra, y tenían ganas de verla. Cogimos un autobús de el centro, en la calle Gran Vía de Colon, a la Alhambra. Ya habíamos comprado nuestros billetes y podíamos entrar sin esperar. Primero, fuimos a la palacio de Carlos V, y vimos un museo de una artista, que se llama Owen Jones, adentro. Próximo, entramos en la Alcazaba, que fue la fortificación de la Alhambra en el pasado. Tiene un campana, y es la porción mas antiguo de la Alhambra. Después, necesitábamos esperar en una colina para entrar en los palacios de Nazaríes, donde vivía todos los reyes quien vivían allí. Tiene muchos cuartos decorados y patios con estatuas. My lugar favorito en los palacios fue El Patio de los Leones.

Para terminar nuestra visita, andamos muy lejos al Generalife, el palacio de recreo para los reyes. Fue un poco mas pequeño y menos decorado, pero fue muy bella, claro. El Gereralife también tiene grandes jardines alrededor de lo, pero porque es el invierno, no tuve flores. Por lo menos, fue verde. En todo, la visita tarde 3 horas. La Alhambra es muy grande, y tiene mucho historia para aprender.

This past weekend, my friends from another part of Spain (Extremadura), came to visit me in Granada. They had never seen the Alhambra before, and they wanted to. We took a bus from the center of the city, on the street named Gran Via de Colon, to the Alhambra. We had already bought our tickets so we didn’t have to wait to enter. First, we went to the palace of Carlos V and viewed a museum of an artist, named Owen Jones, inside. Next, we went into the Alcazaba, which was the fortification of the Alhambra in the past. It has a bell and is the oldest portion of the Alhambra. After, we had to wait in a line to get into the palaces of Nazaries, where all the kings who lived there lived.  It has many decorated rooms and patios with statues. My favorite place in the palaces was the Patio of the Lions.

To finish our visit, we walked very far to the Generalife, the vacation palace for the kings. It was a little smaller and less decorated, but it was very beautiful, of course. The Generalife also has gardens around it, but because it is winter, there weren’t flowers. At least it was green. In all, the visit lasted 3 hours. The Alhambra is very big and has a lot of history to learn about.
